Katy Perry is in no rush to release her new album, but she’s convinced it will be worth the long wait.
“I am doing a lot of experimenting and taking chances. I’m definitely taking some chances this record,” she told Booker on 97.1 AMP Radio.

“I’m working with different producers that maybe people wouldn’t imagine me to work with, or different co-writers or things like that…I think when music is good, nobody remembers the time it took to make it.”
It’s been nearly three years since the release of Perry’s most recent album, Prism. Two singles hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and the record has since sold more than 4 million copies worldwide.
But the 31-year-old Santa Barbara native isn’t intimidated by all of her previous commercial success.
“I’m going for music that connects and relates and inspires,” she explained. “I play with a lot of different themes and stories and sounds and phonics and stuff like that. So, I don’t think there’s anything that I can’t try.”
