It’s been 3 months since the Pulse Nightclub massacre which rocked our city, and survivors are still dealing with the impact of that fateful night.

Tony Marrero, a Universal Orlando employee was at Pulse Nightclub with one of his friends and got up to leave but soon found themselves in a fight for their lives as gunfire opened up.

We all know the rest. 49 people lost their lives that night with some 50 other injured.

Tony was one of those injured and was sent to a nearby hospital.

Ellen DeGeneres got wind of Tony’s story and desire to do good and decided to have him on her show.

Tony said Katy Perry’s song “Rise” helped him get through one of the most difficult times of his life.

Katy then came out on stage and both she and Tony began to weep.

Katy surprised Tony with such a kind gesture. She heard he wants to go to film school and so she personally wants to pay for his first year.
