Was football ever an Olympic sport?  What was in the very first phone book?  What type of music did the Beastie Boys originally play?  Was Jethro Tull a real person?  All that and more with Adam’s Fun Facts:

1. Football got a chance to be in the Olympics when it was added as a demonstration sport at the 1932 games in Los Angeles but it bombed, and has never been considered again. (Wikipedia)

2. The first phone book was published in 1878 in New Haven, Connecticut. It didn’t have phone numbers just a list of subscribers, and you’d call the operator and ask to be connected to one of them. (Studies in American History)

3. Jethro Tull was a real person!  He was a British agricultural pioneer in the 1700. The band picked the name when a guy at their booking agency suggested it, because he was a big history buff. And somehow it stuck. (Wikipedia)

4. The single “American Idiot” by Green Day only made it to number 61 on the Billboard chart in America but it was a top five song in Canada, the U.K., South Africa, and New Zealand. It’s almost like they’re trying to tell us something. (Wikipedia)

5. The Beastie Boys were originally a hardcore punk band and had a female drummer. (Wikipedia)
