I was reading an article on Huffington Post about Taylor Swift’s trial and how outspoken pro-feminism celebrities are silent on Taylor’s trial and it really ruffled my feathers.

Let’s start with the definition of feminism…

Feminism: the advocacy of women’s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes.

For years, Hollywood has been crawling with feminists demanding we close the gender pay gap. Celebrities have come out in support of Kesha as she is currently embattled in a sexual assault lawsuit. Kesha has had support from some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Which ones? I’ll gladly list them.

Katy Perry, Adele, Lorde, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Snoop Dogg, Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift just to name a few.

Let me say that last one again though for the people in the back… Taylor Swift.

During Kesha’s trial when a judge denied an injunction, Taylor Swift quietly donated $250,000 to Kesha for any financial strain she may be facing due to the court case.

However that wasn’t enough for some celebrities. People like Demi Lovato without naming Taylor specifically, attacked Taylor for not marching or going to Capitol Hill to talk about the issues of sexual assault on women. She hasn’t said a word about Taylor’s groping case.

Artists like Katy Perry campaigned for Hillary Clinton with feminism in their hands waving flags preaching how amazing it would be for women to have the highest office in the world. Now silent. I don’t care what “bad blood” there may be, freaking swish, swish bish and show support.

Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus marched during the Women’s March on Washington after President Trump won election. Silent.

However, now that Taylor is in a court case of her own, facing a radio DJ who allegedly groped her during a meet and greet, these celebrities haven’t said a word of support for Taylor. Or even remotely mentioned the case.

Feminism doesn’t work that way.

You don’t get to call yourself a feminist and criticize Taylor for not marching in a Women’s March or not going to the Capitol Hill to talk about sexual assault and then remain silent yourself. That’s called hypocrisy and Hollywood, yours is showing.

Why didn’t Taylor march in a Women’s March? Probably because people would say she’s only doing it for attention the same would have been said if she dedicated a speech to Kesha like Adele did at a televised award show.

You see, people want to see Taylor fail. They don’t want her to win for whatever reason and yet, she always seems to win.

“Why didn’t Taylor say anything right after this happened?”

Maybe Taylor didn’t say anything because she was silently trying to get this under wraps without making it a big public spectacle. Or like society has taught women for decades, to keep quiet and deal with it. Which, isn’t feminism supposed to be about women speaking out?

Taylor could have quietly paid this radio DJ the millions of dollars he wants for whatever reason, but this is about the principle at this point.

Taylor is only counter-suing for $1. That says so much.

If you label yourself a feminist and want to really see change and be there for women in times like this, then you need to do it for ALL women, regardless of whatever issues you may have with them.

So no Demi, Taylor may not have marched to Capitol Hill, but I certainly don’t see you marching up those steps.

And Katy…you said you want to mend this relationship with Taylor…now would be a good time to start.

Ariana and Miley…where’s your words of encouragement?

Adele…where’s the speech for Taylor?

You can’t pick and choose when you want to be a feminist because of the person in question…that’s not how it works and it will NEVER work that way.
