Power Out For Many Central Floridians For Days Maybe Weeks!

By Adam Alexander
Central Floridians who lost power when Hurricane Irma slammed into the region may be without electricity for days or even weeks, utility officials warned Monday.

The Orlando Sentinel reports more than 6.2 million Florida customers were without power Monday, including more than 850,000 in Orange, Seminole, Lake, Osceola and Brevard counties, according to the state’s Division of Emergency Management.

“This will probably be the largest utility restoration and rebuild project in the history of the United States,” said Roseann Harrington, vice president of marketing at Orlando Utilities Commission. “So we ask for everybody’s patience.”
