1. The person who invented the stethoscopes a guy named Rene Laennec and he came up with it because he didn’t feel comfortable putting his ear directly on women’s chests. (Wikipedia)

2. The only state capital that’s one syllable is Pierre, South Dakota. It’s technically pronounced “pier,” like the walkway on a beach, not like some French guy. (Crossword Giant)

3. The three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd who wrote “Sweet Home Alabama” weren’t from Alabam.  Ronnie Van Zant and Gary Rossington were born in Florida and Ed King was from California and the song was recorded in Georgia. (Wikipedia)

5. World Series Facts: The annual championship series, referred to as the “Fall Classic,” is played between the American League and National League champions.  Each year, the winning team receives the Commissioner’s Trophy, which is made of sterling silver, and features flags representing all 30 Major League teams.
