Lake Cares is a food pantry in Mount Dora, Lake Count that distributes food, and gives SNAP application assistance to families, while also offering resources and help.

Although many of us know of organizations in Orlando, the cities that Lake Cares connects with are Tavares, Mount Dora, Clermont, and all others in Lake County. They help also make specific appointments to get to know families, and persons with certain allergies, and or preferences, eliminating food waste.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Heather McPherson, Chairman of the Board for Lake Cares Food Pantry, to learn more about their mission and to find out about their upcoming event ‘Empty Bowls’, happening on Feb 8th, 2018. ‘Empty Bowls’ will be an event where the community gets together to sample different restaurants, while all $10 ticket donations go to a wonderful cause.

If you would like to connect with Lake Cares and would like more information or to purchase tickets, you can do that here.

Empty Bowls will take place on February 8th from 5:30PM to 8PM in Wooten Park, Tavares, Florida.
