I pride myself on pouring the perfect beer with little to no foam head at the top, it’s an art. That picture above is actually from my keg on my porch, see how perfect? But after all these years, turns out I’ve been doing it all wrong!

The perfect tilt provides the perfect beer, ready to instantly sip without having 2-inches of foam head. Plus, it makes it seem like you’re getting more beer, right? Right, but it also means your beer still has a lot of carbon dioxide in it and that can make you bloated because when those bubbles pop, the gas expands in your stomach.

In other words, you’ll feel a lot less bloated if you let some of the bubbles pop before you drink it and no, it won’t taste flat.

Here’s what you do, still pour it down the side of the glass at an angle, just don’t be overly careful about it. With a pint glass, experts say you want to aim for about two inches of foam. According to Business Insider, having foam in your glass also means you’ll get more of the sweetness from the malt and bitterness of the hops, giving you a better tasting beer. Cheers!
