I Bought My First House!

After a little stress and a lot of curse words, I closed on my new home!

November 20, 2019

After back-and-forth emails, phone calls, tons of stress, and quite a few curse words, I closed on my very first house today!

October 16th, 2019, I put an offer in on a townhouse and nearly a month later, I signed my life away and walked away a happy homeowner!

I learned a lot about real estate during this home buying process and most importantly, I learned a lot about myself.

First of all, I learned that even though you walk into a house and put in an offer, it doesn't mean it's going to be accepted.

I learned the value in trusting your realtor, (in my case, realtors) and knowing that the reason you use them is so they guide you through the process and hopefully, in the end have YOU coming out on top.

I learned that knowing your price range helps. My price range was drastically different than what Zillow and other online websites tell you that you can afford.

Therefore I had to get real, real quick and rid my mind of the modern farmhouse updated kitchen of my dreams and instead settle on builder grade base level counters and carpeted floors in the bedrooms.

I learned that even though you want a 2 car garage, it doesn't guarantee a 2 car garage is in your price range.

I also learned a lot about myself during the past month.

I learned that stress is something I never deal with head-on and during this time, I had no choice but to deal with it.

I learned that if I put my mind to something and seek out help, you find it in the right people.

Most importantly, I learned that buying a home IS attainable despite what the internet and the news tell you.

I hope that my process of buying a home has helped you or reminded you of how empowering it is to buy a house and call it yours.

So hell yeah be proud of yourself. I know I am!
