Seriously, they played that opening number.

The 2019 Billboard Music Awards opened with a pastel powerpunch of Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie performing their massive hit, "ME!"

Beginning with a drumline which is very remniscent of Taylor's "Fearless" era back in 2008 when she used a drumline and band costume in her "You Belong With Me" music video and performances, Taylor is silhouetted on stage before beginning with the line, "I promise that you'll never find another like me."

Then we see the pastels light up the stage which is a stark contrast to the flames and black costumes and dim lighting of her previous performances from "reputation" which we'll call her "dark era."

Brendon Urie makes his entrance via Mary Poppins travel as he's hoisted in with an umbrella, recreating the scene from the music video.

The two, in pastel outfits, then serenade the audience with dancers, pyro, and tons of visuals to really set the tone of this TS7 era.

To end, the two hitch a ride on a massive two-seater umbrella as they travel above the crowd, who by this point were on their feet applauding the return of the sparkly Taylor Swift we've all come to love.
