According to a new survey, when you throw a party, you have 20 minutes or less to impress someone or they're going to bail on you early.  So, if you want to throw a good party that people want to stay to enjoy after all your planning, here's what you need to do...

The New York Post shared these eight things you do to make sure your party is a success:

1.  Offer someone a drink within the first eight minutes.

2.  Make it a point to talk to your guests within eight minutes of them arriving.

3.  Offer someone a snack in less than 10 minutes.

4.  Offer a drink refill within 20 minutes.

5.  Don't talk about uncomfortable topics, like politics or money.

6.  Instead, talk about TV shows, movies, or food.

7.  Don't ask your guests to take their shoes off.

8.  Make sure the party will look good in social media photos. A little homemade photo booth with a background and a few props goes a long way!
