Stick Your Neck Out for The Giraffe!

World Giraffe Day is this Thursday

June 19, 2018

World Giraffe Day is this Thursday, calling attention to the decreasing giraffe population in the wild. It's a celebration of the longest-necked animal on the longest day or night (depending on which hemisphere you live!) of the year – 21 June – every year.

Created by The Giraffe Conservation Foundation, this annual event aims to raise support, create awareness and shed light on the challenges giraffes face in the wild. By supporting World Giraffe Day, you directly help save this amazing animal in Africa. With only 100,000 giraffes remaining in the wild, there's no time to waste.

Many zoos across the world are celebrating with World Giraffe Day events, but you can help by donating to Operation Twiga III. "Twiga" is Swahili for giraffe, and this effort is dedicated to saving the population of Nubian giraffe in Uganda.
