Lucky's Market Plans To Close Florida Stores

ALL... but ONE!

January 21, 2020

I'm the bearer of bad news today. I apologize.

According to Sun Sentinel, Lucky's Market is planning on closing all their stores, but one. The news was confirmed by regional store director, Jason Rief. This also includes the one that just recently opened in Sodo.

20 stores will be closing as of February 12th. The only store that will remain open is the Melbourne store.... GASP! I can see that though. There are no grocery stores around that one really.

According to Sun Sentinel , Liquidation sales — 25% off merchandise — will start Wednesday. Employees were only just alerted in n meetings at 7 a.m. today. The closures affect 2,500 employees.

On Lucky’s website, new stores were scheduled to open in Miami, Dania Beach, and Delray Beach, while Boca Raton was to get two stores. Other Florida cities on the 2020 expansion list were Port St. Lucie, Lake Mary, Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Port Charlotte, Venice, Brandon and Clearwater. Which have all now been canceled.

All stores outside of Florida will remain open.
